Castle and keep battle maps
Castles are the maps players remember, because a keep is a sequence of problems rather than a room. Gate, courtyard, hall, stair, tower: each one is a different fight, and a castle map has to hold all of them at once without becoming a diagram.
Running one at the table
Chokepoints do the work here. A gatehouse that only two figures can stand abreast in changes a party's whole plan, and a courtyard that opens out immediately afterwards changes it back. These are drawn with the wall thickness visible, so cover and line of sight are readable without asking.
How big to make it
A full keep footprint wants 40 squares or more across. If you only need the great hall or the gatehouse, a 20 to 25 square frame gives you a better fight than the whole castle shrunk to fit.
What you can make
Pick one and RPGenie writes the map from it. This is not a library of 14 finished pictures: they are starting points, and the map you get is generated for your table.
