Forest and wilderness battle maps
Wilderness is the hardest terrain to make interesting, because trees drawn from above are green circles and a field is a rectangle. These are drawn with the ground doing the work: rock outcrops, fallen trunks, streams, undergrowth and the clearing edge where cover runs out.
Running one at the table
Open ground is a feature, not a gap. A wilderness fight is about who reaches the treeline first, so these maps are drawn with a real distinction between covered and exposed, rather than an even scatter of foliage that means nothing in either direction.
How big to make it
Outdoor encounters want room: 30 to 50 squares across. Ranged attackers need the distance to matter, and at 20 squares everything is already in range of everything.
What you can make
Pick one and RPGenie writes the map from it. This is not a library of 16 finished pictures: they are starting points, and the map you get is generated for your table.
